Pupil Power Assembly 2026 – It’s back!

If you caught Surfers Against Sewage on Dirty Business, you know what’s really going on in the UK’s waterways. Now it’s time to take that into the classroom.

The Pupil Power Assembly (PPA) has been uniting schools across the UK for seven years. But this year, we’re trying something a little different!

For the first time, the PPA will stand independently from the Plastic Free Schools programme and turn its focus to water quality and sewage pollution. Same energy. Same overall mission – to clean up our waters. Only this time, we’re focusing slightly more downstream.

On Friday 27 November between 9:30 and 10:30am, join us for a free one-hour national livestream.

Pupils will hear from TV presenter Naomi Wilkinson and other guest speakers, take part in live polls and activities, and leave as active campaigners with tangible actions to tackle sewage pollution in our waterways.

What is the Pupil Power Assembly 2026?

Hosted by Surfers Against Sewage, the Pupil Power Assembly 2026 is a free online event designed to help pupils connect with and care for our blue spaces – the rivers, oceans and waterways we all depend on.

This empowering event gives young people the tools and inspiration to raise their voices, take action on water quality, and become environmental changemakers in their schools and beyond.

This year’s session will be packed with:

  • Inspiring talks from brilliant guest speakers
  • Live interactive polls and quizzes
  • Fun, hands-on activities
  • Tangible actions pupils can take straight away to tackle sewage pollution in their local waterways

Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been joining us for years, this is a truly dynamic event that’s educational, inspiring and heaps of fun!

Who can take part?

The assembly is best suited for Key Stage 2 but we welcome younger and older pupils to take part too! It’s free to all UK educational settings, including SEND provisions, pupil referral units and home educators. It will be fully accessible with BSL interpretation and subtitles throughout.
